Updated: Apr 1, 2021
This month, Themis is launching the Themis Sheroes of the month blog series. Through this series, we would like to highlight the experiences and realities of being a self-identifying woman at the UK Bar and spotlight all the amazing work these sheroes have done.
As our March 2021 Shero, we have interviewed Natasha Shotunde.
Natasha Shotunde is a barrister at Garden Court Chambers and Co-founder and Chair of the Black Barristers’ Network. Her practice has previously encompassed a variety of practice areas, including crime, extradition and civil work, and has a current focus on family law and human rights, as well as working on the Dame Linda Dobbs Review. She is also an elected member of the Bar Council sitting on the Bar Council’s Equality, Diversity and Social Mobility Committee and the Race Working Group. Her passion for social mobility has driven her to be one of the Bar Council’s first tranche of Social Mobility Advocates, speaking on Channel 5 News and at various events about the subject. She is currently focused on improving the working lives of Black Barristers, increasing their visibility and lobbying for change within the profession.
